Where to Find Marketing Jobs in Canada?

If you’re looking for a marketing job and are wondering where you should look, you’re at the right place. In this post, I’ll cover the best sites to go for marketing jobs and careers.

#1 – Online Job Boards

  • LinkedIn:
    • LinkedIn is by far my favorite go-to source for marketing jobs. What I like about LinkedIn is the “Easy Apply” feature that lets you apply to a job in seconds. I also like the fact that you can see who posted the job, in case you want to reach out to them directly for questions.
    • Now, before you start applying for jobs on LinkedIn, you may want to create a complete and professional LinkedIn profile that highlights your skills and experience. A high quality professional headshot is also a must.
    • Follow relevant companies and organizations in Canada that you’re interested in working for.
    • Use the job search feature to search for marketing positions by keywords (e.g., “digital marketing,” “marketing manager,” “marketing coordinator”) and location (e.g., specific cities or provinces, or even “remote”).
    • Save job searches and set up job alerts to receive notifications when new marketing jobs are posted.
  • Indeed:
    • Indeed is my second favorite when it comes to searching for marketing careers. Indeed is a popular job search engine that aggregates job listings from various sources, including company websites, job boards, and recruitment agencies.
    • To find marketing jobs on Indeed: enter relevant keywords and location in the search bar (e.g., “marketing jobs in Toronto”). Use filters to narrow down your search by job type, salary range, and more.
    • Set up job alerts to receive email notifications for new job postings that match your criteria.
  • Glassdoor:
    • Glassdoor provides job listings, company reviews, and salary information. To find marketing jobs on Glassdoor:
    • Search for marketing positions by location or specific companies.
    • Read company reviews to get insights into the work culture and interview experiences at potential employers.
    • Upload your resume and create job alerts to stay updated on new job opportunities.
  • Monster:
    • Monster isn’t as popular as it used to be, but it’s still a very popular job search website that lists marketing job opportunities in Canada and worldwide.
    • To find marketing jobs on Monster: Enter your desired job title and location in the search bar.
    • Utilize filters to refine your search based on job type, industry, and more.
    • Create a Monster account to save jobs, receive personalized recommendations, and upload your resume for easy applications.
  • Niche Job Boards:
    • Some niche job boards are specific to the marketing and advertising industry. Examples include the American Marketing Association (AMA) Job Board and the Canadian Marketing Association (CMA) Career Center. These boards often feature specialized marketing roles.
    • Visit these niche job boards and explore their job listings.
  • When using online job boards to search for marketing jobs in Canada, it’s important to:
  • Tailor your resume and cover letter to match the specific job requirements of each position.
  • Apply promptly when you find relevant job postings.
  • Set up job alerts to receive notifications for newly posted positions that match your criteria.
  • Research companies before applying to gain insights into their culture and values.

#2 – Marketing Companies’ Websites

Visit the websites of companies you are interested in working for. You might want to Google all marketing companies near you. Most reputable organizations post their job openings on their career or job opportunities pages. We at Little Dragon Media are no different! Check out our jobs section to see our current vacancies.

Professional Associations

Join marketing and advertising professional associations in Canada, such as the Canadian Marketing Association (CMA) or the American Marketing Association (AMA) if they have a Canadian chapter. These organizations often provide job listings and networking events.

In-Person Networking Events

Attend marketing and advertising industry events, conferences, and webinars in Canada.

Check out Meetup.com, Facebook Groups or even Bumble Hives (That’s right, Bumble Hives not Bumble Date!) in order to find groups of marketers you can join.

Networking can help you connect with professionals in the field who may know of job openings.

Recruitment Agencies

Consider reaching out to recruitment agencies that specialize in marketing and advertising roles. They can help match you with suitable job opportunities.

Government Job Portals

The Government of Canada’s official job portal, Job Bank, lists various job opportunities, including marketing positions.

Industry-specific Websites

Explore industry-specific websites and forums related to marketing and advertising. Some websites may have job boards dedicated to marketing roles in Canada.

University Career Centers

If you are a recent graduate or a student, check with your university’s career center for job listings and resources. All major universities and colleges in Canada have a section where they advertise jobs for students.

Online Freelancing Platforms

If you’re open to freelance or remote work, you can also find marketing gigs on platforms like Upwork, Freelancer, and Fiverr. When you’re starting out, you want to build yourself a portfolio, so you may consider charging very low fees just to acquire your first clients and be able to create your portfolio. You also may want to get positive testimonials and reviews. This will help you tremendously in your job search.

Local Newspapers and Magazines

I know it’s 2024 and physical newspapers are in decline, but they’re still out there! The older generation of baby boomers still use newspapers. Some local newspapers and business magazines still have a classified section with job listings.
