After doing some extensive research and comparison with other providers, I decided to sign up for business insurance for my company, Little Dragon Media, through Zensurance, and in this post I will tell you about my experience and whether or not I recommend this insurance policy.

Who is Zensurance?

I didn’t know much about them initially, but based on my research, Zensurance seems to be a Canadian online insurance brokerage that focuses on serving small businesses and entrepreneurs.

The company is headquartered in Toronto, Ontario, and has a pretty impressive reputation profile. That’s what actually drew me to give them a try. They have over 3,000 positive reviews on their Google profile, as well as various awards and media features.

Zensurance was founded in 2016 by Danish Yusuf. They started the company with the vision of simplifying the often complicated insurance process for small business owners. They noticed that many traditional insurance providers weren’t meeting the needs of small businesses, particularly in how time-consuming and complex obtaining the right coverage could be.

What is Business Insurance and Why is it Important?

Business insurance is crucial, regardless of what industry you’re in, because it helps cover unexpected costs that can come up from mistakes, accidents or disasters.

In simple terms, business insurance is essential for keeping things running smoothly and keeping you covered during unexpected events, especially as it pertains to accidents, work mistakes or lawsuits. It not only protects your business but also supports your employees and helps ensure your business can keep going even if/when things go wrong.

What Type of Insurance Can You Get with Zensurance?

  • Builder’s Risk Insurance: Covers buildings under construction against damage from events like fire, theft, and weather.
  • Errors & Omissions Insurance: Protects professionals against legal action from mistakes or failures to perform their professional duties.
  • Commercial Auto Insurance: Insurance for vehicles used for business purposes, covering damages from accidents, theft, and other risks.
  • Commercial General Liability Insurance: Provides broad protection for businesses against liability claims for bodily injuries or property damage caused by their operations.
  • Commercial Property Insurance: Covers loss or damage to company buildings and contents due to events like fire, theft, and natural disasters.
  • Cyber Liability Insurance: Protects businesses against the financial losses associated with data breaches, cyberattacks, and other digital threats.
  • Directors & Officers Liability Insurance: Shields company leaders from personal losses if they are sued due to their business decisions or actions.
  • Event Liability Insurance: Offers coverage for specific events against risks like accidents, damage to the venue, or cancellations.
  • Legal Expense Insurance: Helps cover legal costs arising from lawsuits or legal actions taken against the business.
  • Liability Insurance: A broad category that generally protects against claims of negligence that result in injury or damage.
  • Malpractice Insurance: Specifically for healthcare professionals, this insurance covers liability for injuries caused by negligent professional services.
  • Product Liability Insurance: Protects manufacturers, distributors, and retailers against claims related to injuries or damage caused by their products.
  • Professional Liability Insurance: Similar to Errors & Omissions, it covers professionals against claims of negligence or harm resulting from their services.

You may not need all of these types of insurance. It all depends on your field of practice. If you are unsure what you need, I suggest that you fill out their online application and answer all the questions there. The system will automatically generate an insurance policy that matches your specific business needs.

My Experience Signing up for Zensurance

After reviewing the company and reading customer reviews, I decided to take the plunge and get an insurance quote for my business, Little Dragon Media.

I went to their website and began filling out the form. It asks you to answer a list of questions about your business, financials and specific services. Once you’re done answering all the questions (it takes about 10 minutes) it’ll generate a customized business insurance policy for you and allow you to customize it…

Once you’re done customizing your insurance policy, it’ll ask you a few more additional questions about your business, your legal situation, and then it’ll ask you to review all of your answers to ensure your responses are valid and accurate. Once that is done, your insurance policy will go to manual review by their team members…

Overall, I enjoyed this experience much more than the usual “old school process” of requesting an insurance quote which involves calling a company, waiting in line, and then having to answer a series of questions over the phone.

I also enjoyed the fact that the questionnaire was able to “understand” our industry here at Little Dragon Media (digital marketing), and ask me appropriate questions that pertain to my digital marketing agency, as opposed to general business-related questions that don’t always apply to our field.

Quote Received Within 2 Days

After filling out the form and submitting it, I received my business insurance quote within 2 days, which you can see below (numbers have been blurred out). My dedicated agent has been very helpful and easy to communicate with. Approving the quote is all done online with digital signatures, which makes the process of activating your insurace very smooth and seamless.

Conclusion – Final Thoughts

My experience signing up for business insurance online has been very smooth and easy with Zensurance. If you are looking for an insurance quote for your company, I highly recommend giving them a try.

In my opinion, their userfriendly online interface, their great reviews and their agents’ responsiveness is what makes them truly stand out in the insurance space. Lastly, the pricing quote I received was very competitive and similar to other insurance quotes I received from other banks and financial institutions in the past.
