Google Ads Coaching – Who Can Benefit From It?

Google Ads coaching can help you learn how to optimize your campaigns by yourself, as opposed to hiring an agency (*ahem* like us *ahem*) that will do the work for you. It’s a service that can help you save a lot of money in the long run, provided you have the time and willingness to be coached 🙂

What is Google Ads Coaching?

One thing I realized in my 20 years+ career of running Google Ads accounts for various clients is that in many cases, business owners may just need some coaching, as they already have the basics covered and just need to learn a few tweaks and strategies to take their account to the next level.

As the old proverb says: instead of giving a man a fish, teach them how to fish, right?

I tell my clients that Google Ads Coaching can help them go from beginner to advanced and, therefore, help them save money by launching and managing their own campaigns rather than having to pay an agency an ongoing management fee.

Google Ads and PPC in general can drain your budget very quickly if you don’t know what you’re doing. At Little Dragon Media, we’ve offered Google Ads coaching services for many types of businesses and entrepreneurs over the last decade, so we understand the most common issues that people face when it comes to PPC and know how to teach them to avoid such issues.

Google Ads or PPC coaching is basically like taking tutoring or private learning classes with an expert in the field. Here at Little Dragon, our coaching covers the following topics:

  1. Keyword Research and Selection: are you confident that you are targeting the right keywords? That’s one of the most common issues we noticed with our coaching clients. Many go “too broad” or simply struggle to identify the most relevant and cost-effective keywords with high commercial intent.
  2. Budget & Bid Management: are you allocating budgets effectively and choosing the best bidding strategy? It can be challenging to determine how much to spend on each campaign or keyword to maximize ROI without overspending.
  3. Targeting the Right Audience: are you targeting the right geographic locations and demographics? Not doing this properly can potentially lead to poor ad performance and low conversion rates due to irrelevant audiences.
  4. Ad Copywriting: coaching can help you learn how to craft ad texts and headlines that are not only engaging and persuasive but also aligned with your keywords and landing pages. High-quality ad copy that aligns with your keywords and landers will inevitably result in a high Ad Rank, higher CTR’s and lower costs overall.
  5. Understanding and Using Ad Extensions: One thing I’ve been noticing is that many advertisers struggle when it comes to using ad extensions. They either don’t know how to use them or don’t see the benefit in leveraging ad extensions. Coaching can help you understand which ad extensions to use and how.
  6. Conversion Tracking and ROI Measurement:
    • Implementing Conversion Tracking: Setting up and troubleshooting conversion tracking can be technical and confusing.
    • Measuring Performance Accurately: Understanding which metrics to monitor and how to interpret them to evaluate the success of campaigns effectively.
  7. Ad and Landing Page Optimization:
    • Optimizing for Quality Score: Improving quality score by optimizing ad relevance, landing page experience, and expected CTR.
    • A/B Testing: Continuously testing different elements of their ads and landing pages to find the most effective options can be resource-intensive.
  8. Compliance with Google’s Policies:
    • Adhering to Policies: Keeping up with Google’s advertising policies and ensuring all ads are compliant to avoid penalties or bans.
  9. Keeping Up with Platform Changes: Google Ads frequently updates its platform, UX and features. Your Google Ads coach can help you stay informed and adapt your strategies accordingly.
  10. Scaling Campaigns: knowing when and how to scale successful campaigns without diminishing returns or increasing CPA (Cost Per Acquisition) is another element that a good PPC coach can help you with.
  11. Cost Control: keeping costs under control while trying to outbid competitors and improve ad position.

Who Can Benefit From Google Ads & PPC Coaching Services?

  1. Small Business Owners, Entrepreneurs, and Startups: when you run a small business, you don’t necessarily have the time or expertise to handle your own marketing budget. This is where our PPC coaching services can come into play.
  2. E-commerce Businesses: online store owners looking to drive traffic and sales through targeted PPC or Google Ads tailored to various stages of the customer journey.
  3. Local Business Owners: brick-and-mortar businesses aiming to attract local customers through geo-targeted ads, such as dentists, lawyers, restaurants, gyms, and retail stores.
  4. Service Providers: professionals like lawyers, dentists, consultants, and contractors who want to generate leads and attract clients in specific regions or with specific needs.
  5. Tech Companies: SaaS and other technology companies seeking to acquire new users or promote free trials and demonstrations.
  6. B2B Companies: businesses that operate in the B2B space looking to generate leads, promote webinars, or highlight their expertise in a particular industry.
  7. Seasonal Businesses: companies with products or services tied to specific seasons or events, such as holiday-related businesses, tax preparation services, or wedding planners who need to maximize visibility during peak times.
  8. Niche Markets: businesses operating in very specific or niche markets that need highly targeted advertising to reach a small, specific customer base.
  9. Growth-Focused Firms: businesses that are scaling and need sophisticated ad strategies that support growth, such as expanding into new markets or launching new products.

Google Ads coaching can help these business owners understand how to tailor their advertising strategies to meet their specific goals, whether that’s increasing online visibility, driving sales, or generating leads. A coach can provide personalized advice on budget allocation, keyword selection, ad copy optimization, conversion tracking, and much more, helping business owners maximize their return on investment in Google Ads.

Coaching FAQ

Q: What’s the difference between hiring a Google Ads coach and hiring a Google Ads Management agency?

A: here at Little Dragon Media, we do both. I would say that coaching is best for those that have the TIME and DESIRE to learn to optimize their own campaigns. If you don’t have the time and would rather hire an agency that will completely manage your Google Ad campaigns, then coaching isn’t right for you and you should probably hire an agency like us to handle your campaigns.

Q: How much does PPC coaching cost?

A: we charge $250 per hour for our coaching services. We can conduct these sessions either through Zoom, phone or in-person (Toronto midtown office). We can also travel to you and coach your marketing assistants or teams but additional costs will apply in this case.

Q: What can I expect from a Google Ads coaching service?

A: you can expect to get better at Google Ads and learn how to get a better ROI from your campaigns. Your coach can go over your PPC account with you and identify areas that need improvement. He can also create a custom learning plan, and answer any question you may have about Google Ads or PPC in general.

Q: What industries can benefit from PPC coaching?

A: any type of business can benefit from coaching. Are your clients searching for your services or products on Google? If the answer is yes, then you are a prime candidate for Google Ads coaching. If the answer is no, then this isn’t for you. We have coached lawyers, dentists, plumbers, financial advisors, chiropractors, retail business owners, e-commerce owners, travel agents and many other types of businesses.
